Communications Archive
From 2017 to 2019, Zak Bratton served as Education & Outreach Coordinator for the Colorado Supreme Court’s Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel, where he wrote and managed official communications for a statewide audience of more than 41,000 licensed attorneys.
The role spanned the office’s full communications operation: an attorney newsletter that grew from quarterly to bimonthly during his tenure, feature articles, press releases, annual report narratives, self-help guides for legal consumers, continuing legal education materials, educational video production, social media, and the public website (then coloradosupremecourt.com, now coloradolegalregulation.com) — including analyzing user feedback to evaluate and improve self-service content.
The work centered on making complex regulatory processes usable — for attorneys navigating compliance and for the public navigating the system. Every piece below was written before generative AI tools existed: researched, drafted, and published under the standards of a state regulatory office, where accuracy wasn’t optional and every word carried the weight of the Colorado Supreme Court behind it. Much of that infrastructure remains in active use today.
Newsletters
Zak served as lead writer and editor for the office’s attorney newsletter, owning the full production cycle — content strategy, writing, design, and Mailchimp distribution. During his tenure the publication grew from quarterly to bimonthly while maintaining six to eight original articles per issue, reaching 41,000+ licensed attorneys statewide and averaging 13,000+ opens per issue.
